22 Ci3T Coaches Corner

If you are coaching Ci3T Leadership Teams, here are a few suggestions for how you might use this module:

Ideas for Inspiration!

As a Ci3T Coach, we encourage you to review the full scope of materials and resources to be prepared to support professional learning efforts and on-site implementation support. For example, you might schedule individual or small group meetings with teachers who either want to learn more about how to first use precorrection as a Tier 1 support or those who are ready to learn how to “test” how well precorrection is working for students with moderate levels of risk.

In some school systems, district and principal leaders have established site-level coaches to support each Tier 2 support. For example, at an elementary school there might be 2 teachers and at middle or high school there might be 4-5 teachers who attend professional learning sessions to learn to how to design, implement, and evaluate precorrection. These on-site experts support consistent, high-quality coaching experiences including performance feedback. This also allows people other than Ci3T Leadership Team members to engage in leadership experiences, building capacity of the others (Oakes et al., 2020). In some schools, each teacher is asked to “lead” one Tier 2 support with another teacher (e.g., two on-site coaches for precorrection) and identify another Tier 2 support to learn. Thus, everyone is a leader and a learner. For those serving as coaches, we recommend having two people co-lead these responsibilities to build capacity and protect against attrition (e.g., when people retire, move, get promoted, go on parental leave).
